From humble beginnings to global enterprise, the success of Atkins Machinery, has been fueled by the vision of its founder - a commitment to provide a source for quality preowned textile machinery at reasonable prices. Starting from a two room office in 1983, Robert D. Atkins has guided Atkins Machinery to a worldwide corporation with over 200 years of combined textile experience.

"We've worked hard over the years to remain current with the changes going on in the industry," said Atkins, who spent 13 years with textile giant Milliken and Company, before moving into the equipment business. "This is not an 8 to 5 job. We've gained our edge from the work we've done after regular business hours."

Despite all changes and growth at Atkins Machinery, many things remain the same at the insistence of Robert Atkins. "Our service now is the same as when we started, if not better, " said Atkins, who passed along his philosophy to his son Greg Atkins, Vice-President, when he joined the family business 10 years ago. "We take the attitude of doing it right. One thing that has made us successful is the close relationship we've built with customers. If there's a problem, they know we'll help."

INTERNATIONAL EXPANSION OPENS NEW MARKETS

Atkins Machinery's warehousing capacity has grown to keep pace with worldwide sales, now topping 440,000 square feet on a 19 acre complex. That capacity, combined with Atkins Machinery's extensive sourcing of equipment, has been key to their success in the inter national market. Sales to more than 20 countries world wide make up a growing percentage of total business.
